Billy Blanks began his study of the martial arts as a child and went on to win seven world karate championships. He created Tae Bo, the fitness programme that introduced martial arts movement to a mass audience and sold in the tens of millions, and has appeared in films alongside many of the era’s action stars. In this interview he discusses building a training system, taking it to market, and what school owners can learn from the way a martial arts product reaches an audience far outside the dojo.
