Oscar De La Hoya Announces Boxing, MMA and Clothing Partnership with Affliction Entertainment

Las Vegas, Nevada… Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, one of the top boxing promotions companies, is now working in partnership with Affliction Entertainment, the mixed martial arts and clothing company, to market pay-per-view shows and branded clothing.

It appears the powers-that-be at Golden Boy and Affliction think that they can create a new, profitable niche by presenting traditional boxing and MMA fights on the same card. Hopefully, the top officials of the two companies have discussed all of the fine print because there are some in the boxing world who aren’t sure that Golden Boy Promotions will want to put its top boxers on a mixed card and, instead, allow them only to fight on boxing-only shows.

The clothing part of the deal makes Affliction the official apparel licensee for the Golden Boy Enterprises-owned Ring Magazine. Affliction will also create and market a signature Affliction T-shirt for major Golden Boy Promotions fights.

Oscar de la Hoya started Golden Boy Promotions in 2002, and, since, has become a pay-per-view powerhouse. It has almost 60 fighters under contract, including future hall of famers, such as Bernard Hopkins and Sugar Shane Mosley, and current world champions, top contenders and rising prospects.

Affliction Entertainment is a major player in MMA fight promotions and its clothing collection is a favorite of elite athletes, musicians and the “fashion-conscious.” Donald Trump made a significant investment in Affliction in June 2008.
