Martial Arts Training Protects Australian Ambulance Staff

Melbourne, Australia…People are just as crazy in Australia as anywhere, since ambulance staff now find it necessary to learn martial arts to protect themselves from those very same people that are trying to help.

According to an ambulance union official, there are plenty of reported incidents of drunk, drug-affected or mentally disturbed patients confronting and/or assaulting ambulance personnel. Recently, a paramedic was allegedly punched and gripped around the throat by a drunken patient on a call to a home.
