Desert Adventure Ends in Death for MMA Fighter Evan Tanner

By MAPro • Oct 21st, 2008 • Category: Industry Insider, Martial Arts Resouces

Palo Verde, California…According to the Imperial County Sheriff’s Department, the body of Evan Tanner, former UFC Middleweight Champion, was recently found in the Palo Verde mountain area.

Friends had left Tanner, 37, numerous phone calls and text messages, since the weekend before his remains were discovered. Evidence from his blog suggested that he considered his trek into the California desert to be an “adventure,” and that “any failure of my equipment could cost me my life.”

Tanner had returned to UFC competition during 2007, following therapy for alcohol addiction.

  1. It has been over a month since we lost Evan.

To say he is sorely missed and can not be replaced would be an understatement.

People usually speak well of those who have died, and they should, it’s just that, with Evan, it was hard to find anything bad to say about him when he was alive. He really was one in a billion.

We love you, we miss you, Evan Tanner.

    Rest in peace
